Meet the Team

  • Michael Harris, Ph.D., LMFT

    Michael brings a rare depth of experience to his work at Soundview Counseling. With a doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology from Western Michigan University and over two decades of clinical practice, Michael has dedicated his career to helping individuals, couples, families, and children navigate some of life's most challenging moments.

    Michael's therapeutic approach draws on evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, and Mindfulness, a practice he has studied formally through graduate work at the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley. He is also extensively trained in Collaborative Problem Solving, an evidence-based model that helps individuals and families build compassion and communication skills for lasting change.

    Throughout his career, Michael has served in roles ranging from outpatient therapist to Clinical Director, and has supervised and trained the next generation of counselors as a former Assistant Professor of Counseling Psychology. He has worked across diverse settings including schools, community mental health, veterans services, and inpatient care.

    At Soundview, Michael works with adults, adolescents, couples, and families across Connecticut, offering telehealth sessions that bring his extensive expertise directly to you — wherever you are.

  • Chelsea Barabtarlo, LMFT-A

    Chelsea brings a rich, holistic perspective to her work at Soundview Counseling. A COAMFTE-accredited Marriage and Family Therapist Associate, Chelsea approaches every client through a systemic lens — exploring how relationships, life experiences, and environment all shape our mental and emotional wellbeing.

    Chelsea works with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families across a wide range of concerns including anxiety, depression, ADHD, PTSD, grief, anger, and relational challenges. She is trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and Gottman Method Couples Therapy — a comprehensive toolkit that allows her to tailor her approach to each individual's unique journey.

    Her background spans community mental health, court-involved populations, domestic violence intervention, and dual-diagnosis care, giving her a depth of experience that extends well beyond the therapy room. Chelsea integrates somatic, mindfulness-based, and expressive arts techniques into her practice, honoring the connection between mind, body, and spirit.

    Chelsea is currently working toward her full LMFT licensure — with all post-graduate supervised clinical hours completed and approval to sit for the Connecticut licensure examination in 2026.
